Our tutors go beyond basic tutoring. We call our tutors Academic Managers because they manage all aspects of school demands. Academic Managers form positive connections with each of their students. A healthy connection between a tutor and student is essential for academic success.

Tutor Experience: I specialize in reading instruction and I enjoy teaching elementary school. I also have extensive experience as a graduate instructor. I also train beginning teachers in Elementary Teaching Methods.

Tutor Experience: I taught high school world history, U.S. history, and AP U.S. government for seven years at a High School in San Luis Obispo.  Additionally, I have ten years of experience coaching basketball at the junior varsity and varsity level.  I feel that teaching, coaching, and tutoring are all opportunities to help young people reach their goals and learn who they are.

What I like about tutoring: I like helping students see how something that seems very difficult can be broken down into easy to understand elements. Once you understand the elements, understanding the whole is much easier. This is a skill that can be applied to all academics and to life!

What I like about tutoring: A teacher's job is to inspire. Serving as a motivational and instructional force for students to truly comprehend content and to become independent learners is my favorite part of teaching. As an instructor of Educational Psychology, I enjoy constructing and implementing pedagogy in a way that best fits a student’s needs. I enjoy tutoring so much because that one-on-one interaction allows me to immediately see the progress a student is making and to quickly identify and clarify misconceptions he/she is having.

What I like about tutoring: I love that moment when a student "gets it." It's a great feeling when the light bulb goes on, and a student realizes that he or she can understand concepts or accomplish goals he or she used to think were out of reach.

What I like about tutoring: The most satisfying moments, for me, are those in which a student realizes that the answer is right there — be it the solution to a math problem, the thesis of an essay, or simply a new way to get work done quickly and effectively. Confidence breeds motivation!
